Adam grew up attending church and accepted Christ as his
savior when he was about eleven years old. He considers
he could be called a drug addict-needing his regular
Sunday and Wednesday fixes and whenever else the church
doors were open. His addiction began with and was fed by
God fearing parents that loved him enough to take him to
church. For that he is eternally thankful.
After accepting God's grace in his life at a young age,
Adam has not always been the obedient child he knew he
should have been. In his early 20's, God began to deal
with him, teaching him through past mistakes and
allowing him to watch as others made mistakes as well.
Though not perfect, Adam is grounded in the assurance
that God still loves him and will always walk by his
side. He is a sinner bound for hell, but by the grace of
God through the blood of Jesus Christ he is saved.
Adam learned about Casa Aleluya through his dad, who has
been a faithful visitor to the home since 1999. In
Spring 2006, Jerry asked his son to accompany him. God
pressed on Adam to 'obey thy father and mother' and so
Adam made the two week journey with his father. That
summer, Adam took 7 hours of college coursework and
worked. After summer classes and before the fall
semester began, he could think of nowhere else he'd
rather 'rest' than returning to Casa Aleluya to
volunteer and so he returned in August by himself. On
this trip, Adam felt God begin to really deal with him
about the possibility of a longer term commitment in
missions, but he wasn't sure of the whole picture. He
returned home, still feeling like something was
happening but not sure what. He attended church
immediately after arriving home, still not feeling any
clarity though willing to wait for it. After the
service, he attended another service geared toward youth
and young adults. There, the minister talked about Jesus
walking on water; how Peter stepped out of the boat on
faith and began walking toward Jesus. As he ended his
message, the minister began to name things that the Lord
had placed on his heart; areas where he felt people
needed to have faith and step out. The ninth or tenth
item he mentioned was that someone needed to put their
dream on hold, take a step of faith and accept the call
to serve on the mission field. It was then that God
bolted Adam in his chair and said, "That is you!"
Dumbfounded that God would ask him to put his life on
hold, Adam accepted what he heard and confessed to the
minister that he was one of those that he had spoken of.
Adam prayed about his decision and received the full
blessing and support of his congregation when he came
forward with his calling.
Adam then graduated with a teaching degree in Physical
Education/Coaching and put it all on hold for the glory
of God!!
