The Church Triumphant
Short Gap, West Virginia |
When David was 21, he and Regina would visit with her cousin. They often sat on the front porch, drinking coffee and talking. As they visited, Regina's cousin would share with them what Christ had done and was continuing to do in his life. Their walk with Christ came as a result of the simple realization that they needed to change; they needed Christ in their lives. David and Regina together accepted Christ as their Lord in 1975.
For many years, David and Regina attended a Methodist church. Over time, they would come to hear God calling them to leave and start their own church. Along with several other people, the Leases planted The Church Triumphant.
During the time David was pastor of their church, he traveled to Guatemala to visit a missionary friend who worked at a home for children. At that time, he was introduced to Casa Aleluya. Over the next several months, David returned with work teams ø volunteering and ministering to the children here.
He felt that God was calling him to work at CPNA full time. On one particular trip of David's, Regina felt that she should have come along, but she did not have a passport. As Regina prayed during David's trip and beyond, she would hear God speaking to her that they belonged at Casa Aleluya. The next mission trip, August 1997, Regina and David traveled to Guatemala together for the first time. Regina returned again two months later, their decision to return permanently having been made.
By September of the next year, the Leases would return home to a brand new dorm at Casa Aleluya with a houseful of boys to love and lead in the path of their Lord, Jesus Christ.
