Aimee was baptized when she was 13, but didn’t
understand what her relationship with the Lord was
supposed to be after that. She spent most of her time
looking to please others and not God. It wasn’t until
after college while she was studying abroad and someone
questioned her faith that God convicted her of the need
to start living her life for Him.
Aimee and John met shortly after and became best
friends. John had been raised Catholic and it wasn’t
until he began attending church with Aimee that he
understood God’s desire to have a relationship with Him.
John and Aimee were married in 1994 and in the summer of
1995 Aimee went on her first mission trip to Mexico.
Aimee had received her B.A. in Spanish and was excited
to use the gifts God had given her to minister to the
children there. After arriving at the airport the
Mexican pastor immediately asked her if she had ever
thought about using her gifts to become involved in
ministry. He had no idea that before the trip God had
been placing that burden on her heart. It was then that
God planted a seed that would lead her to Casa Aleluya
ten years later.
A month before her scheduled departure for Guatemala
many spiritual attacks came against Aimee, including
severe sciatic pain recurrent from past surgeries. After
a lot of time spent in prayer, the Lord healed her from
her pain.
Aimee knew after only a few days at Casa Aleluya that
the Lord was calling her to serve Him there. When she
returned home at almost midnight she immediately began
to tell John what she felt the Lord had laid on her
heart. Two weeks later her sciatic pain returned but
more severely. After praying for weeks that the Lord
would heal her with no relief, she asked God to help her
endure the pain. A couple of weeks later the orthopedic
surgeon she had been seeing told her she had a disk
herniation that was so large it may heal itself. She and
John continued to pray for healing and slowly the pain
left.
It was during these months that John and Aimee spent a
lot of time praying that the Lord’s desires would become
their desires. John took his first trip to Casa Aleluya
with Aimee in November 2005. He returned to the US
before Aimee and first called to tell her he felt they
were to serve there in some capacity but not necessarily
full-time. Two days later, he called again to say that
during his devotional that day the Holy Spirit had
spoken to him. He knew that God’s desire was for them to
be at Casa Aleluya. John realized that he had become
consumed by his work and that God was asking him to give
this up to go Guatemala. The pressure and burdens of
living for others was gone and an immediate peace came
about him.
In April of 2006 the Millers took their daughters to
visit Casa Aleluya and God again confirmed His desire
for their family to move to Guatemala. They arrived in
August 2007 and consider it a tremendous blessing to be
able to serve in God’s ministry at Casa.
