Lee was raised in a Roman Catholic family of five boys and one girl in San Diego, California, but did not know the Lord. When Lee was 5 years old, a fire broke out in his home while the family was sleeping. His dad saved the family, yet died in the house due to loss of blood and smoke inhalation. Lee lived the life he desired. At age 37, he realized how much he had sinned against God. He also realized that Christ truly loves him. Lee repented of his sins and put his faith in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. God allowed Lee to serve Him on a mission trip to India where Lee helped to spread the gospel and witnessed the persecution of fellow Christians. The scales fell from his eyes as Lee knew that God was preparing him for the mission field.
Candy was raised in a Christian family of two boys and two girls in Tennessee. She prayed to receive Christ at the age of 8, but later, at the age of 35, Candy realized that she did not know Jesus. After God spiritually and physically brought Candy to her knees, she asked Jesus to live in her heart. She repented of her sins and put her faith in Christ. Candy has a fear of flying, so she said she would never go overseas...until 2007. The church youth Pastor and his wife persuaded Candy to think and pray about going on a mission trip to Guatemala. After half-heartedly praying about going, God whole-heartedly revealed to Candy that she needed to go for Him. She gave her fears to the Lord and flew to Guatemala with Lee and their church youth group. At Casa Aleluya, God used Candy to form a drama team. She immediately fell in love with "her kids."
After being short-termers to Casa for 1 ½ years, God opened the door for Lee and Candy to be dorm parents to the boys in the Vencedores. A year later, in October 2009, they made the move to take on the parenting role to 37 boys. They love their boys. Their continued desires are to share Jesus and teach about His boundless love and grace.
