We had our family meeting this morning and talked with the boys about the things that happened this week. Sometimes all of us get complacent at some point in our lives and we have to revisit the rules and be reminded of what is right and what is wrong. Based on their behavior this past week, we had to do a lot of reminding. We also praised the boys who are level 5 and thanked them for being good examples to not only the other boys here but to the other children at Casa.
Yesterday during homework time, one of our boys came to me to check his work. His assignment was an “optional” assignment. The teacher told the children in the class that if they wanted to, they could write a note to God about forgiving someone who hurt them. Our fella chose to do the assignment. His note was simple, but carried a large amount of responsibility and impact. He wrote, “I forgive my mom and dad.” Wow! This boy’s parents are alcoholics and used their income to buy alcohol instead of feeding their three children. The children came here extremely malnourished and sickly. We’re certain God loves this fella’s note and his heart!
This morning Lee and I darted to Wal-Mart to get a baby gift for someone. While we were there, we saw Edy 3. He now works for Coca-Cola. He looked so happy and said he really enjoyed his job. We are quite proud of him.
All His,
Lee and Candy
